Nazis. Where do you begin?

Well I will start somewhere. There seems to be an infatuation with Nazism from people my generation and younger. See I love history. As such I watch a number of historical themed groups. And among these groups there seems to be an influx of art that portrays Nazism and Nazis in a sympathetic or cool light. Why is this? Have we gotten so far removed from World War II that younger generations see Nazis as little more then stock villains in works of fiction? Do people no longer grasp the severity of the crimes committed by Adolf Hitler's National Socialist government?

Look people. Nazis are not cool. They are not like the Empire from Star Wars or the Decpeticons from Transformers or the Klingons from Star Trek. Those groups, those antagonists, the are fictional. The crimes they commit are works of fiction. At the end of the day there is no harm in liking them, or in glorifying them. They are made up.

Nazis are not fictional though. No one made them up. The suspension of civil liberties in Germany, the forced annexation of surrounding countries, the attempted genocide of Jews, Roma, and other people deemed racial inferior, it all really happened. These are not a series of events created for a fictional story, real people were affected, real people were killed. Millions were gassed en mass because Adolf Hitler had a twisted vision of racial hierarchy. Thousands upon millions really died in the war the National Socialists started. Glorifying, celebrating, Nazism is not ok, nor should it tolerated. So please dA, stop with the Nazi infatuation. It's insulting to every man, woman, and child who suffered under Adolf Hitler's regime.

Finally, to the modern German nationalists out there. Please do not take this as an attack on your country, people, or culture. Like I said at the start I love history. I know there's more to Germany then what happened between 1933 and 1945. I realize Germany is a very special place, with a deep, rich history worth celebrating. You have a great nation, and I do not blame the Germany of today, or the Germany pre-1933, for the crimes committed by the National Socialist Party. I am not attacking Germany here, or the German people. I am attacking those who seem to think it's ok to glorify a genocidal madman and the regime he forced onto your country.
Just my thoughts on what seems to be a disturbing trend among the younger generations here on dA.

There sure are a lot of nazi parody works out there, and gosh can you imagine how all this misinformation and joking must annoy national socialists.

Yes... propaganda.

and yes it really can get old seeing all the nazi parodies and then "this does not represent my actual views" so what if it doesn't you can say what you want and should not have to justify it. Sheesh, in the eye's of the public anarchy and communism has little need for justification were as any NS works need constant justification.
